    Description

This paper Christmas card frontpiece probably dates from early 1900's or late 1890's.  There is no mark on the back.  It is approximately 3 1/4" X 5 1/4" and in excellent condition.  It has a fine string to pull which pops open the card's two sets of tree branches on both sides.  I have had it open in the past, but it is delicate and I am afraid to continue pulling the cord for fear it will detach.  A collector of these rare articulating cards may know the safest way to open.  I don't know the country of origin, but would guess it's Germany.
There are six different flags depicted.  The French flag is from 1790 to 1794 and the UK flag from 1801.  There is also a US flag and three others I could not find online to identify--or they may just be artist's renderings.  There are three children depicted, one holding a doll.  It is extremely detailed.  Unfortunately, the white card it would have been attached to is gone.
